I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING

A Crossover Fanfiction between Doctor Who and Harry Potter

T

Amelia Jessica Pond sat at her desk, lips thinned into a line as she squinted her eyes in order to increase her focus on the needle in her right hand. The young Scot was frustrated with the fact that her aunt had pulled on her Doctor's arm which caused it to tear. She adjusted her desk lamp to shine onto her hands so that it would enable her to sew it on properly; but it just kept tearing again. After a few more futile attempts, Amelia set the Doctor aside, frowning as she guiltily looked at his face.

"Sorry about my aunt. She just gets cross whenever I talk about you" She reached over to the doll, caressing it lovingly, "she thinks you're not real, she also thinks that I've gone mad. But we both know that that's not true, aye, Doctor?" She smiled to herself, thinking that somewhere out there, he was listening. And somewhere out there, he was shouting out 'rubbish!' and whatnot to defend her case.

"I know you don't mean to be late. You said 5 minutes, but it's okay; I don't mind waiting" She yawned, stretching her arms out lazily. It was half past eleven, and she knew that it was time for her to head to bed. She turned her lamp off, pushed her desk chair back towards her bed and jumped onto her mattress. She threw her covers over her, and let out a content sigh.

It had been 3 years since Amelia last saw her Doctor; later that year she would turn 11. Although it had been long, she never lost hope in him. She knew that he would come for her; despite what everyone else said, she knew that he would not lie to her. After all, he was just late is all.

"I'm not people. Do I even look like people?"

Indeed he hadn't, and that was why she believed in him. Amelia grew lonely without her Doctor, and feared that she may one day forget about him. And so, she decided to make things in order to remind her of him. She wrote plenty stories and fairy tales about their encounter and the many adventures they would go on when he came back. She made dolls of him and her, and even a small blue box with the words Police Box on it. Amelia didn't want to forget her Doctor, and she most certainly did not want to forget his wonderful time machine. The magical blue box that came to her from Santa Claus; and in the blue box held her gift.

Her Doctor.

A very odd and strange man whom she trusted very much. He was different from the others; after all he wasn't people. He was honest and straightforward with her. Not to mention he had been funny. A funny man was a good man to be friends with. Amelia did not have many friends, but that was okay. She would rather choose the Doctor as her friend anyway. She didn't need anyone else.

All she needed was her Doctor.

Amelia sat up and put her palms together before closing her eyes in prayer.

"Dear Santa, I know that I've asked you a hundred times before, and I've talked to you about this almost every night, but please? Can I please see the Doctor again? I miss him so so much, and I just want to talk to him again. A word or two? I know he's trying to get through, so please? Let him" She squeezed her eyes tightly, indicating as to how desperate she truly was.

"A sign, a way for him to get to me! Anythin!" She pleaded, bowing her head slightly at her palms. She quieted and waited for some sort of response. After a while, she peeked through one eye and heaved a sigh of defeat when she received nothing; just like every other night.

"I guess it's just not time yet" She murmured quietly to herself, feeling her faith in him fade slightly. She quickly shook her head, angry at the notion that she dared to think he wouldn't come for her. "No, he said he would; so he will!" Amelia quickly sank into her bed and got settled under her blankets.

She let out a sigh in content as the warmth of her mattress began to provide her an extensive comfort. With closed eyes, she tried to return to the land of dreams. She smiled, happy that at least in that world her Doctor was the one waiting.

However, as Amelia sank slowly into slumber, she was unaware of the creature that had found itself by her window, eyes glowing brightly in the night. And in its mouth held a very special letter with words that would surprise the little Scottish ginger.

To the girl with the name from a Fairy Tale,

Amelia Jessica Pond

Amelia rushed down the stairs, hand reaching out for the railing when she almost fell. Afterwards, she continued with the same speed and made a leap over 3 steps to hasten her pace. Her aunt gasped in shock at the sudden impact of her niece's feet on her favorite rug. "Amelia!" She scolded at her dangerous actions. "You could've gotten yourself hurt, don't do that again!" Her niece nodded carelessly at her scoldings, not really paying attention as to what she said. She rushed over to her.

"Aunt Sharon, I need to get to King's Cross Railway Station!" She exclaimed, waving a paper and an envelope in her face. "We need to go as soon as possible!" She jumped around, excited as ever. Santa had finally given her a chance to see her Doctor, and it would be utterly stupid if she just let this opportunity fly past her.

Her aunt's eyebrow rose as she sent an incredulous look Amelia's way. "Why would you need to go there?" Amelia dumped the letter in her hand before running up the stairs, shouting that they should leave in 20 minutes so that she had time to pack and get ready. Aunt Sharon's eyes chased after her, confused about Amelia's behaviour. She opened the letter and read it through before squealing in delight. "Oh my! Where did you get this, Amelia?" She smiled brightly, retreating to her own bedroom to pack.

In her bedroom, as she shoved her suitcase with clothes and other bare necessities, Amelia smirked at her Aunt's naive personality. The paper that she had given was psychic paper that had been included in the envelope her Doctor had sent to her. He had remembered her mention of her aunt, it would seem; and boy, was she happy about that.

Her Doctor had invited her to King's Cross Station for an adventure. Correction; her adventure. Wrong; it was their adventure. Her cheeks coloured red in excitement. She had been waiting for this day for years! And now, she could finally get what she deserved.

"I'm coming, Doctor" She whispered to her stuffed doll, smiling.

"Just be patient and wait, that's what I did"

The Doctor wasn't relatively late for any event; rather than late, he was awfully early. But everything had its reason. He had been seated at a bench at King's Cross Station, legs constantly crossing over each other -from left on right, then right on left. These actions would obviously attract unwanted attention from passersby, but thankfully they passed by as blurs.

No one except for the Doctor had been seated. Everyone else was rushing here and then; it had been rush hour, so it was no real surprise to the Gallifreyan.

He glanced at his watch before scolding himself. "Didn't mention the time, did you?" He asked himself before rolling his eyes, smug. "Who needs to know time when you have a time machine?"

He shook his head multiple times at his previous statement. "No, no, the mention as to what time she's supposed to meet me here, and yes, the statement makes sense but she doesn't have a time machine, so she needs to know the time; or I could just wait here and when she comes I could run back to the TARDIS, go back and tell my past self that she came at that time. Oh my, I'm rambling again, aren't I?"

He sighed heavily, finally settling into a steady position, setting his back against the wooden seat. "Then again, rambling doesn't sound too bad, does it? Perhaps I should do this more-" Two carts separated from each other, distancing themselves as the figure of a young redhead was revealed. "-oh, there she is"

The Doctor watched with stunned silence as Amelia Jessica Pond walked back into his life- at least he thought that was her, that was her, right? He couldn't quite believe that the little Scottish girl had grown up so much in just 3 years. Her bright red hair had been tied up into a high ponytail as she walked with slightly more independence than when he had last seen her. She had gotten taller, and she still had the chubby cheeks from childhood.

Amelia was still but a child.

His lips turned downwards in worry. Could he really put so much weight on her when she was still so little? Put so much on those small narrow shoulders of hers? How could he expect them not to break? She was not ready for this, something screamed at him.

And if anything happened to her, it would be his fault.

"Hey!" He shouted at her. In an instant, her electrifying blue eyes found his. "There's my little fairy tale!" The girl's lips widened into a smile and soon enough she made off into a dash towards him. He jumped up onto his feet, but before he could regain his stability, the ginger hit him hard and wrapped her arms around his body. She was still shorter than him, thus her arms could only reach his lower abdomen.

She sighed in content as his warmth spread out to her. "I missed you" She told him, hugging him tighter. His scent filled her senses, instantaneously relaxing her muscles. She went limp in his arms, feeling her knees buckle at the feel of her being in his arms. The familiar scent of him; rust, oil and some sort of fire. She pulled away, taking him in by sight.

He wasn’t raggedy and dirty like the day she first met him. He was dressed with a red bowtie, a brown coat and even trousers. It was apparent to Amy that he didn’t go straight to her after their incident, which slightly saddened her, but she pushed herself to not complain. He was here, and that was the only thing that mattered.

She smiled widely at him, “Hi”

“Hello, Amelia Pond!” He patted her head fondly. “I’m so sorry for the delay, time travel, you know? I got the TARDIS to come at the wrong time, it seemed” He told her before dragging her by the hand to get her to sit down at the bench with him before they disrupted the flow of human-traffic. “How old are you?”

“Well, I’ll be turning 11 this year” She answered before raising an eyebrow at him, “and you got the timing wrong by 3 years, Doctor”

He chuckled sheepishly. “So sorry, I’m 1049 years old, getting older everyday, I’m afraid”

“You’re not that old” The Doctor wanted to pinch her cheeks, she was just so adorable. The Doctor truly missed this girl, the girl who waited. He had actually met her older self, the one married to Rory, but right now he needed Amelia Pond. “Are we going on an adventure?”

He smiled. “That we are, my dear”

“Come along, I’d like to show you something” he told her before holding out his hand. Smiling up at him, she took it and followed him. The Doctor led the way, a grin playing at his lips as she looked up at him questioningly. It was clear as day to her that he seemed to be… nervous. His hand was warm, but sweaty as well. When he noticed her raised brow, he asked, “what’s wrong? Are you worried about your aunt?”

She wrinkled her nose at the mention of her aunt. She barely managed to escape the old woman’s clutches. She thanked the heavens that there was a Coach sale right around the corner. “We can be back before she realizes, right?”

Smiling, he replied, “With a Type 40 TARDIS, of course!”

The two arrived by a wall. “Here we are!” he gestured to the bricked wall. Nobody seemed to pay them mind as he gestured to the brick wall. Amelia squinted her eyes at the wall, clearly trying to find something off about the wall, but the Scot was clueless.

“It’s just a wall, isn’t it?” she asked the Doctor who smirked at her.

“Miss Pond, I’m an alien with 2 hearts and a time machine,” he reminded her, “do you really think I would bring you to a wall that was nothing?”

She huffed, crossing her arms on her chest. “Is there a portal that sends us somewhere else?” she asked with sarcasm laced with her words. She blinked when he patted her on the back. “Wait, really?”

“Yes, really” he reached out to touch the brick wall, she frowned when his fingers stopped at the contact with the wall. He stepped back. “But it’s been closed off for now, it opens and closes at specific times and dates. It isn’t time yet so the portal won’t open” at the sight of her downcast eyes, he reached into his coat and pulled out his sonic screwdriver and pointed it at the wall, “it’s a good thing you’ve got a tour guide like me, aye?” grinning, she nodded. The sonic buzzed, and Amelia noticed a small rift in the wall, as soon as it came, it was gone.

The Doctor kept his sonic and reached out a second time, and this time the tip of his fingers vanished into the wall. Amelia smiled. “What’s on the other side?” she too put her hand out and felt no difference on the other side of the wall-- portal.

He shrugged. “Wanna find out?” the two held hands again. “By the way, if you ever meet someone who says that you need to run, don’t believe ‘em. Just a load o’ rubbish, that is. It’s just to get you young ones all riled up about it, is all” Amelia didn’t question on further, being too excited to see the other side.

The two, hand in hand, stepped into the wall and found themselves on the other side. They were in a train station, the same one, it seemed, but there wasn’t a single soul around.

“What happened to everyone?” she asked.

“They’re back there, remember? We’ve teleported to a different and hidden part of the station”

“Hidden? How can no one find such a huge place like this?”

“It’s a perception filter, all this” the Doctor explained, walking off as he gestured to the whole place. “No normal human can see it, they don’t notice it unless they look in the corner of their eyes. But even if they did, the moment they would turn away they’d forget! Much like the Silence really, but since this isn’t really a threat it's fine, and so UNIT just lets this lot do whatever they want so long as it’s not exposing them”

Although the Doctor knew this Amelia had no idea who was the Silence, he just kept rambling on to himself. Amelia watched as he moved about like the crazy and wacky doctor he was. Although in the Doctor’s eyes, everything had been about magnitude, vectors and science, but the Scot saw everything as amazingly impossible; magic was the word that described it.

“Amelia, are you listening to me?” he asked, looking over at the rather dazed girl. She looked up, reading the platform number as 3 and 4 quarters.

“Perception filter keeps the station hidden, I don’t know who the Silence are and who UNIT is either but I get how no one can see ‘em” she touched a different bricked wall. “Why’s it hidden? Are the lot you talked about alien?”

Laughing, he gestured to a bench for her to sit. The two sat comfortably before he opened his.mouth to explain. “It’s not that their alien, they’re just mutated. Back then, centuries ago, there’s this lot called the Lux, which means Light, who appeared on earth. Only about a hundred of ‘em were seen since they’d just escaped from the destruction of their planet”

“Did they come to repopulate in our planet?”

Smirking, he ruffled her hair. “Indeed they did, but the problem was, all of ‘em were male! So they got pretty busy with human females, and you know how you are; you women with those big eyes and your curves, they just couldn’t resist you lot!”

Cringing, Amelia said, “Can we not talk about the process?”

Nodding, he blinked, realizing that she was but 11, “Ah, right, right. Anyways, the lot came, they looked human so females didn’t really mind. But back then the Lighters got around by being entertainers. They put on a show and called it…” he suddenly looked bored as he said the word “magic”

“Why? Were they con men?”

He shrugged. “Depends on what a con is! The lot went about making a chair float, making a horse shrink and etcetera! But how did they do that? They didn’t really cause any tricks, they’d just go around with a stick and say ‘WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA’ and it would float! Was there a string, no of course not. Was it truly magic? Nope, not at all!”

Amelia was absolutely lost now.

“You see, Amelia Pond, girl with the name from a fairy tale, this alien race has capabilities. They’re capable of manipulating matter. They cause items to change their weight, their molecular structure and everything! But because their power is too… bombastic, they needed something to allow a specific direction for its power to flow!”

“Their wands” she awed.

“Yes, Amelia! Their wands! The magic doesn’t come from it, but it allows the power to be directed from one point to another. However, the limitation is that the wand must be crafted from a tree of their homeland which contains specific ions that allow it to flow”

“But the planet was destroyed, did they bring seeds here to replant them on our planet?” at the Doctor’s nod, she asked excitedly, “were they blue? Or were their branches pink or purple?”

He err-ed before answering with a nervous smile, “Well, they look pretty much like any normal earth tree. Thankfully, too, because then they’d look just like any ordinary tree and wouldn’t attract a lot of attention. Plus, even if there’s some humans that get tangled into this perception filter and meet all these mutated beings, they’ve a capability, you see, called an obliviate that basically wipes their memories of all things extra-terrestrial. Pretty convenient, aye?”

“Pretty scary, but I guess I’d call that convenient. So what are we supposed to do?”

“Well, we actually need to go undercover! You see, there’s actually a school! They call it a magical school, but I’ve already told you that it’s just science. Anyway, I’d like to enroll you into this school, and I’ll be right by your side through it all. You’ll be a student and me, well, what do you think?”

Smiling, she replied, “Maybe a teacher?”

“Ah, brilliant! I love teaching physics! I was a physics teacher you know, once, or twice, maybe more, it’s fuzzy…”

“Ah, I know how that feels, I forget stuff too,so it feels all fuzzy, so it’s okay to forget stuff sometimes” Cocking her head, she asked, “but will there be a physics subject? Also, how can you be a teacher when you don’t know magic? Can you just pop up there and say I’d like to teach here? Don’t you need a license or somethin’?”

“Of course not! All I need is a dashing smile…” he then popped out a card that seemed all too familiar to her, “and some psychic paper!”

“Where are we?” Amelia then asked as the Doctor led them to a corner where there was another dead end, a brick wall that seemed all too ordinary that it just had to be what they were looking for. “Is this another portal to another secret train station?”

Laughing, he patted her on the back, pulling his sonic out, he replied, “not a train station, but someplace even cooler! It’s where you’re gonna get all your things for school!” the sonic buzzed as the bricks shifted, twisting and turning as if unlocking a passage for them. As the bricks moved aside, Amelia watched in wonder as the view of shop lots and a street filled with busy people came in sight.

“Is this a magic shop lot?”

“I can’t find a more accurate explanation! Indeed, Amelia, it is, indeed, without a single ounce of doubt, a magic shop lot!”

“But why are we in a shopping mall that has magic? Couldn’t we have gone to an ordinary shop lot?”

“Not when we need to buy magic stuff! We have a whole shopping list,” he pulled out a piece of old parchment that held old scribbles, “and its contents are all too magical for them to be found in an ordinary shop lot!”

The Doctor strode forward, looking around with narrowed eyes as he nodded here and there. All around Amelia was surrounded by oddly dressed people who didn’t pay her any mind. Dressed in cloaks all alike. As she analyzed her surroundings, the Doctor turned with a goofy grin.

“What do you wanna start with?” he stepped beside her, crouching slightly to allow her to read the shopping list, “your cloaks? A broom? Or how about your pet? A wand, yes you’re definitely going to need one of those!”

“So then I’ll be able to direct the flow too?” She asked, her wide innocent eyes twinkled in anticipation, “so I’ll be able to do magic too? Just like the aliens?!” The Doctor hushed her She smiled sheepishly, realizing that she had been rather loud, “sorry, I’m just excited, I guess”

“No it’s quite alright! Excitement is great; though,” he toned down, whispering, “you should try to kill the habit of calling them alien when they’re all around us, yeah?” She nodded, “also, do take note, I’m alien too, technically”

She grinned up at him, “yup! You’re funny and alien”

He smiled nonchalantly at her, “alright, alright, let’s go get your things!”

T

“Doctor?” Amelia sounded, looking up at the odd man with slight amusement, “What are you doin?”

“Not now, Amelia! I’m busy!”

She huffed, “but I’m hungry!”

“Oh, that’s so human! All you do is complain and eat your chips! Stop being so domestic and try to have a little fun”

She grumbled, “my stomach’s been growlin’ for an hour!”

“We’ll get food later!”

“Can’t I just go buy it myself? I got my own money, you know”

“Absolutely NOT! Wandering around is extremely dangerous, so just stay there and be a good girl”

“Yes, silence, thanks, Amelia!” He smiled, his fingers twisting as he worked on his TARDIS, “could you pass me that wrench, please?”

“Amelia, I’m not getting any younger, you know. Not literally, anyway, I might appear younger than my other regenerations, but I’m actually the oldest so far!”

Sigh.

“Rule number 1 of venturing a different time; no wandering around! How difficult is that? Oh wait, I forgot to tell her the rules, didn’t I?” he sighed, “Amy!”
