Air Law Questions Part 1

Updated: Sep 30, 2019

Air Law 2 Class Test'

Danger Areas = Solid Blue Line

RVR marker = White and Red / White on Black

METAR can be obtained = Met Office, ATC, ATIS

Obstruction lights = 150' AGL, 10 candelas, steady red

Minimum requirement for public transport = CPL

Categories of Aircraft;

1) Transport Category = Passenger == Public Transport (PPL cannot carry passenger & he can't fly and be paid for flying unless he's training someone from the same flying club with an aircraft from the same flying club)

2) Transport Category = Cargo===== Public Transport

3) Aerial Work (other than public transport)

4) Private

5) Special

Reportable accident; a passenger climbing up the stairs attached to the aircraft slips and breaks his leg

VOLMET sequence; Wind, visibility, cloud, weather, QNH

Right of way in priority; A/C take-off and landing, vehicle towing a/c, a/c taxiing, vehicles

VFR (outside controlled airspace) BELOW 10000'

1500 m horizontally = 1000' vertically clear of cloud = flight visibility 5 km

VFR (outside controlled airspace) ABOVE 10000'

1500 m horizontally = 1000' vertically clear of cloud = flight visibility 8 km

Max flying time; 100 hours, 28 days

FIR provides information about aerodrome and route = traffic info

FIR provides alerting service

PPL => 17

CPL => 18

ATPL => 21

For aircraft lighter than 2700 kg with unserviceable nav lights, you can fly in the day.

If navigation lights are unserviceable in-flight; you must land at the nearest aerodrome (according to commander's opinion) if safe to do so

500' runway inspection height

An aircraft can fly unregistered => Ferry flying for sale or demonstrations so long as it begins and ends in Malaysia without passing any other state

SIGMET = Significant Meteorological Report = Warning to severe weather

=> 6 hours

SVFR can do taking off and landing in controlled airspace

IFR takes precedence over SVFR

Requirement to carry a cabin attendant in flight;

  • Total seating capacity = 20

  • Total capacity of 20 to 50 seats

More than 1000 persons are assembled in an open area. You can't fly over there within 3000'

Less than 1000 persons are assembled in an open area. You can't fly over there within 500'

Gathering; minimum of 500 people on the ground and organizer must have CAAM permission.

The aircraft should not fly below 500' above the gathering.

If the gathering is more than 1000 people, aircraft should not fly below 3000' above the gathering.

QUOTATIONS FROM PPL NOTES;

An aircraft other than a helicopter must not fly over a congested area below a height that would allow it to land clear of the area without danger to people or property if an engine fails, or less than 1500' above the highest fixed object within 600 m, whichever is the higher
No aircraft may fly over or within 1000 meters of an open-air gathering of more than 1000 people except with the permission in writing of the Authority and in accordance with any conditions specified and with die written consent of the organizers
An aircraft must not fly closer than 500 feet* to any person, vessel, vehicle or structure (treated as a semi- spherical shape)

Standard weights for passengers (take-off calculation) is used when MTOW > 5700 kg and more than 12 seating capacity (load sheet must be prepared if less)

A pilot required to provide his flying license within a reasonable period of time

A flying machine which is being overtaken shall have the right of way, and the overtaking flying machine shall keep out of the way of the other flying machine by turning to the left until that other flying machine has been passed and is clear, notwithstanding any change in the relative positions of the two flying machines.

Anti-collision lights are either STEADY RED or FLASHING WHITE

Flashing white light (control to aircraft on ground) means RETURN TO YOUR APRON

Flashing white light (control to aircraft in flight) means LAND AT THIS AERODROME AND RETURN TO APRON

Red and green wingtip nav lights = 5 candelas

White lights = 3 candelas
