    Temptation Temptation!

I’ve always been tempted to write about a Muslim girl’s romance, mostly because of the lack of originality and interest when I read books about them. It kinda irritated me when they based their main characters on people who disliked those Muslims who are Holy and listen to their parents, and stuff, as if it’s a disgrace.

Not only that, but I feel like it’s tough to relate with, especially when I’m this nerdy millennial who’s an extrovert. The main characters are shy loners that I have no problem with, but when it’s on repeat, it gets a little boring.

The Malay novels that I’ve seen and skimmed are no good, either. Romances between a Muslim and a non-Muslim are just too fakey. They don’t feel real. The conflict that should exist, like the sexual tension, isn’t mentioned.

And yet, I’m fully aware of why I don’t write any stories about that; the religion itself makes it hard to write. Because religion and fiction don’t go together. Fiction is a lie, it’s not real, unless it’s based on a true story.

Not only that, but there’s a bunch of things that could cause conflict in readers; like why we pray and stuff, if the reason is different from that particular Mazhab, then surely there’ll be people who say “this is wrong it should be this and etc”. Plus, writing a romance that has a setting mainly focused on religion is burdensome because your info has to be 100% correct, because there might just be non-Muslim readers reading your story, and the info that’s wrong is considered sin.

Hence, the reason why I choose to not write romance for a muslim girl; unless, however, the story is based on truth.
